Italy is our second-busiest corridor and the one with the most variation.
Italy is our second-busiest corridor and the one with the most variation. The northern route is EU-standard logistics: through France, over the Brenner, into Lombardy or Tuscany. The southern route runs longer — Genoa or Naples ferry, then a regional driver who knows which of Calabria's strada bianca your villa sits at the end of.
The paperwork starts with the codice fiscale (the Italian tax code) and the carta d'identità if you are settling. The customs side is straightforward post-Brexit when filed correctly. The practical side — finding the right driver who knows the right unmade road — is the bit we have built up over the years.
What is included.
-
Door-to-door collection from your N17/N15/N22 address
Surveyor across Tottenham Green, Seven Sisters, Wood Green, Stamford Hill, Bruce Grove. Same crew loads in North London and hands off to the destination team at the frontier.
-
Italian-speaking coordinator
Native Italian. Handles condominio chairs, regional couriers, and the unspoken rules of an Italian moving day. The destination side runs on its own conventions.
-
EORI and ToR1 filing
UK-end customs paperwork, filed on your behalf with HMRC.
-
Italian dogane paperwork
Brenner Pass entry filing for the northern route, Genoa for the southern. We file at the right one for your destination.
-
Goods-in-transit cover
All-risks underwritten cover — heritage-grade options for antiques and frescoes.
-
Strada-bianca-rated vehicles
Rural Tuscany and Umbria mean unmade roads. The destination fleet includes 4×4 light trucks for properties off the asphalt.
-
Storage either side
Indoor depot in N17; partner depots in Milan, Florence, and Rome. Cellar conditions for wine if your dates slip.

Where we go.
-
Tuscany
Florence, Siena, Lucca, the Val d'Orcia. Stone houses, weight-restricted village roads, small-truck final mile from the regional depot.
-
Lake Como & Milan
Northern Lombardy: gated lakeside villas, central Milan apartments. Concierge clearance handled by the destination team.
-
Rome & Lazio
Centro storico has access constraints — pedestrian zones, weekday delivery windows, the Comune permit chain. We sort it for you.
-
Puglia
Trulli, masserie, Lecce townhouses. Rural drop-points; longer transit but well-trodden by our southern partners.
-
Sicily
Ferry from Genoa or Naples. Customs cleared on the mainland — no second clearance.
A surveyor walks your Tottenham property in person — we do not quote sight-unseen on Italian moves because access is so often the unknown. The written quote is one number. North-south distance is the largest variable; Sicilian or Sardinian routing adds a ferry leg.
“We had imagined an Italian move would mean a year of frustration. The opposite. The surveyor walked the Stamford Hill flat, the written quote arrived inside the week, the move ran on the day stated. The Italian-speaking coordinator briefed our condominio chair before we landed in Lucca. The strada bianca to the property had been measured for the smaller vehicle. Boxes on the floor in the right rooms.”
On the Italy route, specifically.
-
Depends on the route, your volume, and Brenner Pass throughput. Northern Italy is a shorter haul than Sicily, but the Brenner customs queue is the larger variable. The written quote includes a likely window for your specific corridor.
-
Practically yes for almost everything once you are settled — utility contracts, bank account, sometimes the lease. The move itself does not strictly require it; your settled life there does. Apply at any Italian consulate before you fly out, or in-country once you arrive.
-
Anything wood-based — antique furniture especially — needs climate-controlled storage if going into a stone house with no aircon. We can arrange cellar storage at the Italian partner depot until your property is conditioned.
-
Probably not the main lorry. The destination crew runs a smaller 4×4 fleet for the final mile, transferring the load from the lorry at a sensible meeting point. We measure the strada bianca at survey-handoff and confirm the staging plan before delivery.
-
Yes. Italian conveyancing is unpredictable; we hold goods at our partner depots in Milan, Florence, or Rome until the rogito is signed and the keys handed over.
-
Yes — climate-controlled transport with customs-clean documentation. There are quantity thresholds beyond which Italian dogane treat the consignment as commercial; we audit at survey to keep the move classified correctly.
-
Yes. The destination coordinator briefs the portinaio — and the condominio chair if there is one — on access timing, lift bookings, and any same-day connections the move needs. The phone calls are theirs to make.
-
Pianos cross the Alps regularly. Specialist piano movers travel with the load; tuning at the destination is recommended after the instrument has settled for two weeks.
-
Yes. Ferry routing from Genoa or Naples; the leg is costed inside the single fixed figure. Customs are cleared on the Italian mainland — there is no second clearance at the island port.
